Excellent core exercises for men



If you are looking to step up your game at the gym and really get into the best shape possible, you need to incorporate core exercises into your routine. There are some fantastic core exercises for men that will have you not only extremely tight and toned, but also more flexible and stronger. Unfortunately, so many people, especially men, over look core exercises when they are at the gym. Instead, they are over shadowed by building muscles with bicep or chest exercises for men.

Why should you bother with exercises for the core?

Good question. Many people do not see the benefit of working their “core.” Unfortunately for them they are missing out on being in great shape. Here are a number of reasons to change your workout routine to include core exercises:

Better balance

Strengthening your core will provide you with better all around balance. This increases your overall health and decreases the chances of you falling or injuring yourself.

6 pack abs

Don’t be fooled that the only way to get washboard abs is to do crunches all day, or to run in circles until you’re blue in the face. In order to get the best looking body and abs, you need to have a rock solid core. This will not only help with the front abs, but also with the lower and side abdominal muscles as well.

Increased weight loss

Working your core is a great way to lose weight. If you are looking to lose weight in 2 weeks, for example, the only exercises I would really focus on would be core exercises.

What are some great core exercises for men?

Do your every day workouts on an exercises ball

Instead of using a weight bench for your usually workouts, such as a bench press or shoulder press, sit or lay on an exercises ball. Since these balls are not stable your core will have to compensate by stabilizing you while you do your exercises.

If you do not want to have to do more exercises at the gym, this in itself will get you on your way to looking great and having a rock solid foundation.

Play more sports

Many guys spend too much time only lifting weights and not enough time with overall health and fitness. Have you ever wondered why so many athletes have excellent bodies? It isn’t just because they exercises a lot – I’m sure you do too – but it’s also because they are doing a variety of exercises.

Consider joining a sports league such as basketball or hockey. This will force your body to use more of its core muscle than you are typically used to.

Stability squats

This is definitely my favourite core exercise for men. It’s quite similar to just replacing your workouts with the exercise ball as I mentioned above, but you are only using the half stability ball. Simply do your usual squat workout while standing on the ball – your core will thank you later.

Try yoga

If you have never taken a yoga class or tried it at home you are missing out on a very easy exercises that will completely transform your body. Yoga is one of the best core exercises for men that you could possibly come across.
