Sweat For Others takes great pride in giving people the opportunity to get active in their communities. However, another important aspect that prides SFO is the ability to give back to those same communities. The following is a list and a little information on the groups in which Sweat For Others has donated a bit of money from a tournament, or event:
Terry Fox Foundation
The Terry Fox Foundation represents the ideals set by Terry and his fight to find a cure for Cancer. He set out to run across Canada to raise money, over 30 years ago. His dream lives on.
Orphan Resources International
ORI is a company based out of the United States that does work in Guatemala. They help provide food and bring families down to forty different orphanages in the country. It is through donations like ours that help them help the children that are in need.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Big Brothers, Big Sisters is a charity that helps local children by providing them with an older mentor. They match ‘littles’ with ‘bigs’ in order to give them someone to spend time with so that they can have fun during their childhood.
Pictou County Food Bank
The local food bank in Pictou County supports many citizens by providing those in need of food and ensuring everyone has enough to support their families and stay healthy. It is an honor to be able to support the local food bank with funds and supplies.
Pictou Lobster Carnival
The Pictou Lobster Carnival is the longest lasting Carnival in the world. It runs every year in the Town of Pictou during usually the first weekend in July. The first carnival was originally intended for the local businessmen to show their appreciation for the local fishermen.
Pictou County Relay For Life
The Pictou County Relay for life is a major event to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. The event consists of teams staying up all night with members walking around a track. One teammate must stay on the track at all times, which is the relay for life.
IWK Children’s Hospital
The IWK is the maritimes’ biggest hospital around. Specializing as a children’s hospital, it is a vital part of our community, and has been and currently is an essential part of our lives.
Ship Hector Foundation
The Ship Hector Foundation is currently working on opening the doors to the Ship Hector Quay as well as maintaining the Ship Hector.
